Atherton Tablelands - The Falls Circuit
Heading North to Cairns, there is a scenic drive which takes you through the lush Atherton Tableland (3000 m above sea level). Rich volcanic soil make the Tablelands a rich farming area. (peanuts, macadamia nuts, avocados and COFFEE!!) It's not Tim Horton's but it sure is delicious. Hmmm....
The Falls Circuit is well worth it. The 15km circuit takes you to three beautiful waterfalls. Millaa Millaa Falls, Zillie Falls & Ellinjaa Falls (see pictures). This month, we will be heading back to the Tablelands to discover the Yungaburra Markets and will be checking out the Undarra Lava Tubes.
The Great Barrier Reef Snorkeling Adventure
We finally used our gift certificates that the SACRED HEART SCIENCE DEPARTMENT gave us before embarking on our OZ adventure. We would like to thank the SCIENCE crew for the wonderful and thoughtful gift. Although the pictures do not do the GREAT BARRIER REEF any justice, it was spectacular nonetheless. Both fish and coral were very colourful & amazing. Look for Nemo! THE GBR is a must "see & do" if you ever make it down under.

Term 3 Update
Term 3 Update - Hello to all our friends back home, including Jimmie!
We have been very “slack” at updating. Term 3 is half way done. Time is flying. We have been playing tourist around Ingham. Unfortunately, the “winter” weather has been overly hot and rainy. However, the past 2 weekends that the weather has been gorgeous, blue sky and high 20’s.
Highlights this term include Wallaman Falls, we have been before but this time it was a beautiful sunny day and we hiked to the bottom. We joined the Italian Exchange students from school.
The following weekend, we went to Hinchinbook Island, again with the exchange group. It was a rainy Sunday afternoon but still worth it. Hinchinbook is located about 30 minutes from us with a ferry ride to the Island. There is a lot to do on the island including 4-7 day hikes and beautiful beaches.
Last weekend we had a big pot roast in our fire pit with friends from work. It was “sensational.” We also made the trip into Townsville to visit the famous Castle Hill. At the top, you overlook the entire City and Magnetic Island. There is a big hike up or you can drive up and go to various lookouts. We chose to drive up. Gorgeous views from the top. We then took a walk along the Strand....a famous spot in Townsville. The beaches were packed and the ice cream shops had line ups, we were in those line ups!! Cold Rock Ice Cream....great Aussie ice cream!!!
This past weekend we went to our first NRL Rugby game. It was the NQLD Cowboys vs. the Brisbane Broncos. A big game and tons of fun!! Thanks to our good friends that came with us! JC is working hard at planning a biology trip to Edmund National Park, about 50 km’s from us. Today, we went to discover it. We walked about 10km’s and looked at lots of different trees including Mangroves! We walked the beach and searched for crocs. On our journey we saw a long 1.5m black snake. It scared the SH*** out of us!!! JC then found a walking stick and we continued walking with that. Just in case!!
JC has been playing tennis this term with guys from work in a league. He is really enjoying it!!!
Week 5 of term 3 begins tomorrow. School is busy with lots going on as half this term is almost over!!! Wow!!!
We hope everyone is enjoying their summer back home!! It does feel weird to be working in July and August!!!
Until Next Time!!!
