Hello Friends,
We last left off after our trip to Brisbane. We have been busy taking in the sights around Northern QLD!! We enjoyed the Italian Festival right here in Ingham. It kicked off with an amazing hair and fashion show. I attended this night with girls from work. We had a blast! The following night JC was participating in the staff mechanical bull riding and was chosen to MC the Risk Ay Model search. Risk Ay is a surf store here in Ingham. The kids have fun participating in this. It’s not all that competitive. We have made some great friends and have been entertaining as well.
Last Sunday we decided to go for a Sunday drive and discover some more. We went to Tully and Mission Beach they are about an hour from us. Tully is famous for the big gum boot and lots of rain. The gum boot represents the amount of rain fall they received in 1950. Mission Beach is well known for its gorgeous beach, unique town and Cassowaries. There were warning signs all over for them but we saw NONE!!! We think they are just mythical creatures that don't really exsist. We enjoyed a walk along Mission Beach and lunch.
This past weekend we made it to Magnetic Island (Maggie Island). We have been waiting a while for this weekend getaway, it was well worth it. It is about an hour away from us and a short ferry ride. The island is bigger than we thought. We rented a 4WD to get around the island and to visit the off roading spots. We enjoyed volleyball, walks along the beaches, there are about a dozen of them, and we only made it to 3. We sat and watched a gorgeous sunset. We also went for a big hike and saw koalas and snakes. We stayed in a villa along the ocean, it was perfect. We just might go back!!!
Term 2 is almost over and time is flying. The next little while will go by fast. School is busy and lots going on. This week we will be attending the final cross country run; State of Origin is on, a big deal! This is Rugby game between Queensland and New South Wales, like the Superbowl. Gilroy’s musical will be on stage as well. They are performing Superman. We will finish off our weekend with breakfast on the beach with our staff. JC will bike there, I will drive!! HA
Until next time.......

Brisbane Bound...
This past weekend, Mel & I flew into Brisbane to visit an old friend from Blind River. We enjoyed the dolphin show and a few rides at Sea World. Afterwards, we went to a beach near Surfer's Paradise to catch a wave or two on body boards. It was a fun day.
The next day, the Jensen/Paquin families boarded the Tangalooma Ferry and spent a lovely day on the beaches of Moreton Island. We built a sand castle, went snorkelling near an old shipwreck and even went tobogganing Aussie style.
(see pictures - tobogganing down sand dunes)
The shipwreck was incredible, there were thousands of amazing & colourful fish swimming around us. Thanks for a wonderful weekend Ross, Trina & Caelen. 'Til next time...
